Projekt Honestly, It’s Not Just a Room obrací pozornost k samotnému prostoru galerie. Prostor není pouhým pozadím expozice, ale jejím hlavním zaměřením – díky svým zvukům, rytmům, světlu a nenápadným jevům, které často míjejí naši pozornost a přitom formují podobu našich prožitků.
Projekt vychází z úvah o ekologii pozornosti, akustice a estetice péče, v níž je péče chápána jako gesto zpomalení a jako způsob, jak se vymanit z tempa současné, na výkon orientované společnosti. Výstava zve k jemnosti, naslouchání a vnímání vztahů, které jsou nepatrné, přerušované, nejednoznačné či vícehlasé. Pobyt v galerii je metodou zkoumání, jež umožňuje zachytit jemné struktury času a vrstev, které běžně nejsou vidět.
Nejde o nic výjimečného. Jen o prostor, který dokáže vytvářet vlastní scénář, pokud mu to dovolíme. A někdy také o to, žádný scénář nemít.
Výstavu zorganizovala architektka, umělkyně a výzkumnice Savka Marenić ve spolupráci s umělci Nikou Datiashvili a Jonášem Balcarem.
Savka Marenić je architektka, umělkyně a výzkumnice, která propojuje architekturu a prostorové myšlení skrze performativní site-specific instalace, vzdělávání, psaní a sdílené zkušenosti ve veřejném prostoru. Vystudovala architekturu v Praze a Podgorici a působí jako doktorandka na Katedře volného umění UMPRUM. Ve své tvorbě využívá spekulativní přístupy a sdílené scénáře k otevírání nových způsobů porozumění prostoru a vztahům, které jej utvářejí. Zpochybňuje dominantní způsoby využívání, reprezentace a správy prostoru a pracuje s fikcí jako nástrojem emancipace a formou prostorové kritiky. Nika Datiashvili je studentem Katedry filmových studií na Filozofické fakultě Univerzity Karlovy. Současně absolvuje stáž na filmové akademii v Lodži v Polsku. Natočil film Legenda bez pasoša (2022), který získal cenu za nejlepší experimentální film FAMUfest a zvláštní ocenění na festivalu dokumentárního filmu DOClisboa. Zajímá ho pohyblivý obraz, kamera jako nástroj vnímání i vyprávění a rád tráví čas ve své rodinné gruzínské restauraci v Praze.
Jonáš Balcar je absolventem Centra audiovizuálních studií na FAMU (CAS). Ve své umělecké praxi se věnuje hudební a zvukové tvorbě, kterou zasazuje do galerijních instalací, performativních situací i narativních forem.

The City Surfer Office Gallery invites you to the opening of the exhibition Honestly, It’s Not Just a Room, which shifts attention to the gallery space itself. The exhibition is organized by architect and artist-researcher Savka Marenić in collaboration with artists Nika Datiashvili and Jonáš Balcar. It will be open on Saturday, December 13, from 12:00 p.m., until 10:00 p.m.
The space is not just the backdrop of the exhibition, but its main focus – through its sounds, rhythms, light, and subtle phenomena that often escape our attention, yet shape our experience.
The project is based on reflections on the ecology of attention, acoustics, and the aesthetics of care, where care is understood as a gesture of slowing down and as a way of stepping out of the pace of today’s performance-driven society. The exhibition invites gentleness, listening, and an awareness of relationships that are subtle, interrupted, ambiguous, or many-voiced.
It is nothing extraordinary. Just a space that can create its own scenario if we allow it to. And sometimes, have no script at all.
Savka Marenić is an architect, artist, and researcher who connects architecture and spatial thinking through performative site-specific installations, education, writing, and shared experiences in public space. She studied architecture in Prague and Podgorica and is currently a doctoral student at the Department of Fine Arts at UMPRUM. In her work, she uses speculative approaches and shared scenarios to open up new ways of understanding space and the relationships that shape it. She questions the dominant ways of using, representing, and managing space and works with fiction as a tool of emancipation and a form of spatial criticism. She draws on specific places and their relationships, in which she seeks hidden stories.

Nika Datiashvili is a student at the Department of Film Studies at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University. He is currently completing an internship at the film academy in Łódź, Poland. He made the film Legenda bez pasoša (2022), which won the award for best experimental film at FAMUfest and a special award at the DOClisboa documentary film festival. He is interested in moving images, the camera as a tool for perception and storytelling, and enjoys spending time at his family’s Georgian restaurant in Prague.
Jonáš Balcar is a graduate of the Center for Audiovisual Studies at FAMU (CAS). In his artistic practice, he focuses on music and sound creation, which he incorporates into gallery installations, performative situations, and narrative forms.
